Hello, everybody. My name is …
I'm going to tell you about the tradition of going shopping in the traditional open markets. In the past, this tradition was very popular. There were a lot of markets, almost in every corner in the streets of Vietnam. Markets were where Vietnamese people in the past eat, trade, and talk. All these actions happened on open streets. The daily market had a little bit of everything, especially big markets. In these markets, there were sessions for each kind of goods like clothing area, raw ingredients, vegetables, food streets, etc. In smaller markets (chợ cóc), most foods, fruits, vegetables were available. In the past, Vietnamese people visited every day to their local small market that was located to the very next alley to buy ingredients for day because in the past, there was no fridge for storing food. Therefore, the foods in markets always had to be fresh. The earlier you came, the fresher the foods you got. So that's why markets in Vietnam started early, at 5 am or 6 am. However, at present people are busy working all day and come home late. They tend to live in a building where there are very big supermakets with a lot of fresh food and these supermarkets are 24-hour open so they go shopping in the supermarkets instead of going shopping in open-air markets. That's why the number of these markets decreased. Although I want to keep this tradition, it's hard to do it due to social development. I still hope that the open-markets exist.
That's all about my presentation. If you have any questions to ask, I'm willing to answer. Thanks for your listening.
