My name’s Susan. I’m from the United States. New Year’s Day is very important in my country. On New Year’s Day, I don’t go to school because all schools are closed. All of the offices are closed, too. Only some bus and train drivers have to work. On New Year's Eve, there is a very special event - the Ball Drop in Times Square in Manhattan, New York City. Sometimes my parents and I come to the Square to watch it. If people don’t go to the Square, they can watch it on TV. In some towns and cities, there are special football games. People usually make resolutions. They tell themselves they will do better things in the New Year. Most people hope they can stop smoking, drinking wine and lose weight.
